We prepare students for "Voice Over Festival for the Performing Arts" and many other competitions in singing. The competitions are adjudicated by judges from the British Federation of Festivals.
Parents in Participation
We give the opportunity to every parent to meet his/her child's class teacher to discuss the child's progress and also to see the child's test progress. Every term teacher parent meeting is conducted after a unit test to discuss the progress made by the students.
BSIC Opens its doors to her students encouraging them to take part in the scrabble tournament organized by the school's "Scrab Club". Students are guided through concept of "The More You Know, The More You Grow" and are thus motivated to take part in their events in order to benefit from a brain game.
At Brilliant Stars we recognize the importance of rewarding our students for all their hard work throughout the year. This Awards Ceremony celebrates and recognizes the support of the students and their families and provides a prestigious day out for the school and its students. Each student is awarded a trophy for their accomplishments and recognition from all their teachers.
There is also the opportunity for students to become involved in learning arts and crafts as well as life skills. Handicraft lessons are undertaken with the students and help make the idea of creating crafts fun and enjoyable learning. There are also lessons such as cooking which develops their skills for later in life.
What a wonderful way to develop and nurture the talents of all our students. The Annual Concert is the students' day and it shows what talent, enthusiasm and commitment these students have. The day involves dramas, singing, dancing together with plays and readings which are developed and delivered by the students themselves. It is a great day and a wonderful way for the school, the students and their families to celebrate the talents of these young people.
To many of us, the Sinhala and Tamil New Year is an occasion in which we attempt to repeat certain rituals and ceremonies of the past, based on a lifestyle that had agriculture (i.e. paddy cultivation) as its main vocation. We understand the importance of our country's heritage. At Brilliant Stars we celebrate the New Year with our students participating and re-enacting these types of ceremonies so that they understand the importance of our past which can assist them in looking forward to the future and celebrating the new year ahead.
